Below you will find instructions on how to update Might and Magic IX to version 1.2.
This patch file is intended for use with English (United States) versions of Might and Magic IX only. Use of the patch on other language versions of Might and Magic IX may result in errors that can render the game unplayable on your system.
This update addresses the following issues:
Update v 1.2 Information
1. Fixed potential game crash when using the YELL command in combat.
2. Multiple restarts from the Character Creation screen to Ravensford will no longer cause the game to crash.
3. Fixed potential game crash when casting town portal, saving the game, exiting to the main menu and then loading that saved game.
4. The adventurers can now complete the Anskram Keep quest without having to beat it in its entirety the first time through.
5. Corrected the issue with getting incorrect Hit Point and Spell Point totals in the Character Creation screen.
6. The Item Right-Click info screen now gives the complete description on weapons and armor with a 'Special' ability attached to them.
7. Corrected item specific inconsistency in the Brongnocker Helm's ability.
8. Corrected item specific inconsistency in the Screever's ability.
9. Fixed issue where AI casting spells on each other would not cause damage. (During Enrage Spell)
10. Fixed bug where the enrage spell (on monsters) would never end.
11. Fixed bug where the FEAR spell (on monsters) would never end.
12. Fixed dragging and dropping an item onto the current users face deleting the item from you inventory list.
13. Inventory is now listed in the character info screen from the most recent item you acquired to the first.
14. Added music to the main menu.
15. Fixed Hit point and Spell point regeneration as a result from item concatenation.
16. Max Resistance value was raised from 99 to 1000.
17. Experts/Masters/Grandmasters concatenation fixed for armor and weapons.
18. Elemental Shield spell wears off normally rather than remaining for 24 hours.
19. Keyboard mapping issue: COMES UP W/ ERROR: No one lives forever If we use a non-English version of DirectX, we can't bind any keyboard function.
Install via Download
Locate the "MM9_1.0to1.2.exe" file on your hard drive and double-click to launch it. The program will search for Might and Magic IX and update it to Version 1.2. After update, follow the instructions below to verify that the Might and Magic IX game was updated correctly.
Note: Requires approximately 10MB of free hard drive space during the updating process.
Go to Start | Find | Files and folders. Type mm9.exe in the "Named" line and in the "Look in" line make sure that C:\ drive is selected, and select "Find Now".
You can check the version number of the new "MM9.exe" file by right-clicking on the file, choosing Properties, and clicking on the Version tab. The file version number should be "1.2".
The default program location is C:\Program Files\3DO\Might and Magic IX
